Alright, I AM NOT ASKING FOR AN UNBAN. I am putting this here because since we added the unmute sign, it seems fair that we can add an unban feature using the bot. I think this would cut down on people being annoying about getting unbanned early, and wouldn't be too hard to implement (i.e checking if verified, checking if verified name is banned due to request, etc).

I am not asking for an unban by the way, I want my temporary ban to run out on it's own.

This is for SELF REQUESTED bans by the way, not for getting unbanned because you were cheating.

Wouldn't this defeat the purpose of /banme?
The point is that say you ban yourself for a month, but something happens and you can actually play again. Instead of begging an administrator to come back online you can just function it by yourself

As far as I know, there's a sign at /warp banme that says staff will not reverse bans.

I agree. Since it's a requested ban, you should able to reverse it at any time. It's not supposed to be a punishment. With the mute sign, you weren't stuck as muted for 1+ hours, you could just reverse it at any time.

I agree with Kitty. Though it in a way defeats the purpose, I think the fact that you could bug admins to shorten the ban in the first place has the same effect. This is a good system to implement.

The ban is requested likely because the user who requested it upon themselves is having a difficult time from resisting the urge to play on the server. The ban wouldn't serve its purpose if you could just request an unban at any point; all it would take is someone craving into their temptations and requesting one, making the reason why the person temp-banned themselves in the first place redundant.

We aren't supposed to, we mostly did this because some people set very long dates and regretted it immediately, which is why we've continually shortened the length you can ban yourself so that people don't go in over their head. I agree with Lan, I believe it would defeat the purpose, and I think now that the max is 7 days we won't need/want to unban people who change their mind. It's there if you need to force yourself away.

The reason /banme was added was because of the influx of ban requests for staff. The system is very simple and requires self control from players who use it. Having the option to unban yourself at any point defeats the purpose and would only only entice players back onto the server when they know that probably need that time out. The ban limit has been lowered from 30 days to 7.

The reason the unmute option was added was because players mostly needed a mute whilst they were completing speedruns and then after completion remained muted for some time.

On top of that, /chat hide mode or Commands Only mode can now be used instead of the mute me button, as both will accomplish the same thing (not allowing you to type outside of chat prompts and commands) without utilizing /mute. I agree with the sentiment that allowing people to end their own bans early diminishes the usefulness of the system (and at worst it's 7 days which isn't long to the point where it's unbearable to wait out).
