Suggested by Taniel in discord.

I think it makes sense to announce all records in chat, not just stolen times. Lots of players work to improve their own performance to get impressive times without reward. It would also motivate those who don’t to optimise their runs further.

Andrew suggested it could be spammy if players repeatedly beat their own records on uncompetitive maps. Personally I don’t think this would be an issue - there are very few scenarios where this could even occur, and you would see at most like 1 message every minute? This could potentially reduce the rarity/impact of a 1st place message, like how we see with new map releases filling the chat with 1st, 2nd and third place times, but I don’t think it would be quite so bad.

The chat message would probably have to be different from the normal one too.

This used to be the case but was removed a couple years ago, I personally wouldn't mind seeing it return.

We used to have announcements if someone got 1/2/3 regardless if it was themselves they beat, not sure why this was removed. And I disagree, I don't think it would get spammy. I would also like to see it back, it was nice

An alternative that i’ve seen before could be a hologram in the lobby with a list of the ~10 most recent top 3 placements. (Like Name-Placement-Map-Time)

I didn’t realise that used to be a feature, that’s cool!

Is this suggestion only for an improved 1st time, or any top 3 in general?
I don't mind either, but the suggestion seems to specifically suggest 1st. The feature (or bug, depends on your viewpoint haha) that was fixed half a year ago was just a re-announce of any time you got if it had a placement in the top 3

I specified first place in the post but it could be for all three. Announcing any top placement could be excessive though? I might be wrong, i’m not sure how often people improve 2nd and 3rd place times without claiming a spot higher.

There is always the option of trying out the announcement of all top 3 times and seeing how it fares, perhaps? I definitely agree that the message should be different somehow - I just don't know what the message would look like

only time I reckon it'll get "spammy" is when a new easy parkour map releases, other than that there is no spam risk imo

I would like to see this as well, but I agree the message should be different. I was thinking something something like

Current:
Kaelan_ is now #1 on Mages In Training with a time of 1h 45:41.887!

New:
Kaelan_ has improved their #1 on Mages in Training with a time of 1h 44:00.000!
