Blacksmith Puzzle in Blight Puzzle Map

When doing the blacksmith puzzle I was able to collect all 9 items from the item frames, but when trying to use the forge to break down the items, the iron chain item is unaffected. I assume it should break down into 2 nuggets and 1 ingot which could be the difference in solving the puzzle. Is this a bug or am I missing something related to this puzzle?
