I started the map "Dancing with Devils", but had to leave partway through, so I wrote down the information I had been given (the rule used to be that I can only walk on blocks that do not drop themselves when mined with a (non silktouch) tool ) and logged off. However when I logged back on the puzzle had rerandomized, but I wasn't given the new puzzle rules (I walked over deepslate, which was safe before I logged off, but now I lost a life on it).
I know that the map did mention that it had multiplayer feature that if two or more people play the map at the same time, then when the first person completes the sequence the rules and sequence are rerandomized for all players, I didn't know that this also meant that if you go offline, and someone else plays the map, the rules are also rerandomized (presumably the sequence is too) and you don't get to see these again when you log back on.
This feels entirely unfair, because I now have no clue what the puzzle even is and have only three more lives to hope that I somehow guess the correct order while not walking over restricted blocks (since I don't know the restriction, I would have to try and deduce and guess what the restriction is now and losing a life doesn't rerandomize the map). So I feel like this was an unforeseen issue.
My question is if there is something that can be done to restart or rerandomize the puzzle (other than sitting and waiting for someone else to play the map and rerandomize the puzzle while I am online), or if I have to reset (since this is in hc it would mean I would have to redo both freefall and incinerate first)?
Edit: I got lucky and another player logged back on and completed their sequence while I was online, but still this feels like a serious oversight. A suggestion was brought up when I asked about this that you could add a playerhead, which would repeat the puzzle rules (and sequence) when interacted with. In order to avoid abuse of repeatedly interacting with it this interaction could come at the cost of one life and require all players currently playing the map to agree to it.
