Hey everyone! It's been a while since we've had one of these, but after four years we are finally ready to update the Hardcore system once more. We have tentatively scheduled a maintenance day for May 10th at 8PM UTC (1PM PDT, 4PM EST, 10PM CEST). During the maintenance period, the server will be closed to all players except staff members. We expect that this will last a couple of hours, but the exact amount of time depends on how smoothly it goes :)

This overhaul will introduce new leg structures and original maps created by the greens+ community and offer a refreshing new set of maps to replace the current system (HC 11.1), which has been in place since 2021. The reason that 11.1 has lasted so long (the longest out of any HC system to date) is mainly because it has been very effective at challenging blues with high quality maps that are both ruthless and fair, and allowing players from all strengths to finish. However, we do believe that it is necessary to swap out the maps every once in a while to ensure that maps can also spend some time in the public FFA pool. That means that, along with this change, some maps will be entering HC and others will be leaving. The list of maps entering and leaving Hardcore will be made public following the maintenance day.

Please note that, difficulty wise, we do not expect the new Hardcore to differ much from the current edition. You do not have to hurry to sprint to the end if you are currently a blue player. This is because Your HC position will be automatically updated to an equivalent spot in the new HC version when maintenance is finished. i.e., you aren't going to lose your checkpoint. For players currently in Leg 2 (choice), your current progress will also be kept into account. If you lose your spot due to a bug, you may message one of the staff through the forums, on the server or via Discord.

During the first few weeks, we will be monitoring the performance of blues in the new maps and most likely making minor tweaks to ensure fair balance and that everything is working properly. It is entirely possible that we may miss something during maintenance, so please bear with us! Updating HC is always a monumental undertaking with lots of collaboration from many greenies and staff members. I'd like to thank everyone that put in the work to make HC 12.0 happen, and I hope that it can prove to be just as successful as the previous iteration.

(Expect a follow-up announcement in this thread after maintenance has been completed)
