Basically, some of the most played maps would get picked, and these maps get to be in a story mode.
But how would it work?
Well, imagine the game Mario Galaxy, where you have to collect power stars and grand stars to advance. Something like this would be in the story mode.
When you complete a map in the story mode, you get a power star. Power stars grant you access to packs of 3 maps each. Let's say, Pack 1 requires 0 power stars, as it's the starting pack. Pack 2 requires 2 power stars, so 2 maps from the first pack, and so on. Each 5 packs is a chapter. When you collect an amount of power stars, you get access to a "boss map" for the chapter, and completing it rewards you with a GRAND star. Packs get progressively more difficult with each chapter, from white/blue maps in chapter 1 to red/black maps for the last chapter.
Maybe HC could be changed from an amount of FFA points to a certain amount of power stars? I don't know.
