Tuning changes - restarts and saturation

Hi guys!

I’ve made a few larger tuning decisions aimed at lowering server load during our peaks. It’s obvious to most that we’ve received a recent bump in server traffic.

1. The server will now restart twice a day at 9AM and 9PM UTC Previously, this was only at 9AM UTC.
2. In an effort to move away from having less entities / ground items at any given time, most old maps have been converted to use saturation rather than food. This should be the standard / "default" for new maps going forward.

Normal speed saturation should refresh the entirety of the hunger bar every 5 seconds. Any that list “Slow” as their reason restore less hunger or restore less frequently to prevent exploits or skips.

The list of maps touched is below – Note that this work was spread across several people to get it done in one day then aggregated back together – some stuff may have been lost in translation. Some maps were already using saturation or using no food. Not all valley maps were changed since those are not publicly facing.

Thanks to the ever-observant OP team (Especially Zath, Rick, and Hex) for the fast turnaround on this change.

Some maps may have received too much saturation, allowing for new skips to be introduced. If this is discovered, please report the issue on the forums in “The Helpdesk” section.

Edit 5/31 - There was a bug with the remove food command on the first pass. I have gone through this list a second time, and removed food where found.

Thanks!
AJ & the MINR staff team.

Were Hardcore maps and challenges considered? Vil Bo had 32 fish as a HC modifier, but you listed it as a saturation map.

We skipped hardcore maps if we did everything correctly. We'll check vil bo to be sure.

Challenges were not taken into account, these hopefully catch saturation in case of a no-food challenge (if not, that's an issue).

Most of the valley maps within the last couple years are also on the list—I think you copied some of the parts of my list a little bit too exactly

We mightve touched some valley maps (/c join does not distinguish), but the above list is factual - we skipped a few obvious valley maps but others we may have 'accidentally' updated. In any case, should not matter.

  • We indeed based it off the year list, such that we could easily separate the work.
