So, as I probably have mentioned before, I weave chainmaille as a hobby. Lately, though, I have been feeling like I'm in a bit of a rutt with regards to creativity. I want to see if any of you guys have any ideas for a project. Before anyone says anything though, I do not have the supplies to do a multi-color or multi-material inlay (I could potentially do a multi-weave inlay). Also, sculptural maille (bookcases, baskets, etc.) are off the table due to how resource intensive they are.

Drink coasters? Fairly small, if you can do rigid edges somehow I think it'd work fairly well. Of course, you don't want to scratch tables, so there can't be any sharp edges.

I've thought of it, but the problem is the amount of already established competition I'd be going into (mased on MAIL membership alone, 30 members per page, 812 pages of member = ~24000 people; of course, some of those members were people looking to commission a single piece instead of being weavers themselves. I'd love to be able to make some money off of this (and have sold a 16" chain of Water Elf for $20 :D ), but need a way to get out there without getting burred in the crowd.

Well, an idea came to mind..
Hotpad holders for hot dishes since those are things people want to use everyday. Another idea would be to make something to block the sun rays off of people's necks for people who wear hats.
