First, note that I do not suggest removing challenges entirely, and instead a remake some very popular challenges into campaigns instead.
So, what are challenges now? Basically "map playlists", where you basically need to beat all maps in a set order. Cool, I guess, but it can be a lot better than just a playlist.
So, I have an idea of "Campaigns", with extra features that make the maps more engaging and challenging. When you start a campaign, you first get brought into a simple "hubworld" for the campaign, with teleport signs to maps, and Chapter Gates.
In each "level" - map, 3 stars could be obtained. One for just completing the map, and 2 for completing "trials". Stars are then used in unlocking chapter gates, and at the end, the stars are converted to Campaign Points.
A few ideas for star trials that I have are:
- Time Trial - Simple and easy. Beat a map under the specified time.
- Finding Trial - Beat a map, but you have to find a star to complete it.
- NoCP Trial - The map has to be completed without using checkpoints.
The benefits over challenges would be:
- It is more than a playlist. It has a small hubworld, and has stuff like chapters and stars.
- It gives more challenge to the maps.
- You can play the maps in any order you like, and some can even be skipped if you have enough stars.
So, what do you think? Would it be better or worse than the current challenge system?
