Tl;dr : Adding your maps to the Wiki at https://wiki.minr.org/ is a great way to promote them.

An added benefit is that when you share the address(es) of your Wiki page(s) (for instance https://wiki.minr.org/RUSH or https://wiki.minr.org/The_Exit) on any chat app or social network, the title, description and illustration will be automatically inserted.

Meaning potential players won't even have to visit the page to know the server IP, the command to join the map or the amount of points they will receive for completing it.

Below is an illustration of Telegram but it works the same on Discord, Facebook, etc...

Today, i've added my map The Exit to the Wiki and i took some screenshots to show you how you could do the same for your old or new maps.

Login or Create an account

Visit https://wiki.minr.org/index.php?title=Special:UserLogin&returnto=Main+Page

If you already have an account, log in.

If you don't, create an account.

From then on, you will be able to edit the Wiki.

Note : Until you are verified, all your edits will have to be approved by a moderator.

Post your wiki username in this thread to get verified :
https://forums.minr.org/threads/minr-wiki.2665/#post-26234

Add your map to the list with all the maps

Go to the list with all the maps :

https://wiki.minr.org/List_of_All_Minr_Maps

If your map isn't listed yet, click on the pencil in the top right corner :

Screenshot from 2018-03-04 08:41:24.png

Add it in the correct order and in the correct section (FFA / FFA+ / ...) and save your edit.

Screenshot from 2018-03-04 08:42:56.png

Edit your map's page

Now that your map has been added to the list with all the maps, click on it in the listing.
You will get to an edit page with an empty text area.

Add the following text in the field and save your edit :

{{subst:Maps}}

Screenshot from 2018-03-04 09:56:28.png

Once you have saved your edit, you will see your page with a standard map template.

Screenshot from 2018-03-04 09:55:17.png

Click on the pencil in the top right corner, add your map data and save the edits :

Add an image and caption (Optional but highly recommended)

Create an image or illustration for your map using your favorite software (Photoshop, Gimp, Paint Shop, ...). An image of at least 1000x1000px is recommended to get the best quality in all circumstances.

Go to the Wiki upload page at https://wiki.minr.org/Special:Upload
Upload your image and copy its file name. In this example : The-exit.png

upload_2018-3-4_19-20-1.png

Go back to the Wiki page of your map and add the filename on the second line (after image =).
On the third line, after caption =, copy / paste the content of your 'description ='

Once done, you should have something looking like this :

Screenshot from 2018-03-04 19:08:00.png

Save and you're done :)

Now you have an easy way to share data about your map(s) as you can just share the wiki address(es).
For instance : https://wiki.minr.org/RUSH or https://wiki.minr.org/The_Exit

And if you share your wiki page(s) on, say Discord, the title, description and illustration will be inserted automatically :

C_, should this be an article so it doesn't get lost forever under the heaps of future forum posts?

Actually it should be in the wiki but I wasn't sure anyone would see it there.

That's why I've placed it here and I stickied the thread ;-)

Ultimately it should end up in the wiki.

I am not sure if anything has been decided with regards to the articles but imho they should all be moved to the wiki as it is a more appropriate platform for that kind of data.
