A few weeks ago we asked the blues on the server for some feedback on the current HC iteration, and we got lots of it! Thanks to everyone who filled out the survey, even if it was in a fit of rage. We appreciate your feedback, and we hope that this revised design will be more enjoyable across the board.

HC 11.1 will be an update to the existing 11.0, making it overall easier than before due to overwhelming feedback and an observable dip in player count that we've been experiencing lately. The structure will remain the same, but there are a few map swap-outs as well as some QoL changes that will make your experience in HC more pleasant.

The maintenance will occur this Sunday, October 3rd, at 7PM UTC. (That's 2pm EST). Please note that your checkpoint will be automatically converted during the maintenance, so you will not have to restart HC. If your checkpoint is broken by this update, post in the thread or DM one of the server staff over Discord and we will fix it for you...

Hello fellow server members! I'm excited to finally announce that Hardcore will be receiving a complete overhaul next week. This will update HC from version 10.2 to 11.0. The change will happen on July 18th, at 2am UTC, Sunday morning. (That's 10pm EST on the 17th). The amount of time it will take to make the change is variable, but I estimate that it will not last more than a few hours. For the time that the maintenance is being done, all non-staff players will be unable to join the server.

What can you expect in the new Hardcore? Well, lots of new things! Our new design comes with a lot of completely original content, custom made for Hardcore. It was also designed with the intent of having a better overall experience - it should hopefully be more fun than the current HC. That being said, do not expect it to be any easier. It will likely be more difficult and time consuming than the current HC, placing more emphasis on problem solving and exploration. For players...

Greetings and salutations. I'm sure all you blues and new greens have had a boatload of fun with HC10.0, which is why we decided to make it even better! Hardcore will be receiving an update to version 10.1 tomorrow. It will start at 12am UTC (00:00 UTC, Saturday morning) and it will last for an indeterminate amount of time .

The core design of HC will remain the same, with 15 levels and three paths to choose that span levels 5-7. The focus of this update is to improve the balance of the three paths and to lower the tedium that came along with some of the maps from the original design. Note that this update will not make HC particularly harder or easier than before, so there is no need to rush ahead before tomorrow. More details on the design will be posted in this thread after the maintenance has concluded.

Your HC position will automatically be updated to an equivalent spot in the new HC version when maintenance is finished. If you somehow have lost your progress...

Hey everyone! After much planning and setup, the staff are ready to implement HC 10.0. Staff are planning to switch to this new HC version Sunday, June 14th. It will start at 12am UTC (00:00 UTC, Sunday morning) and it will last for an indeterminate amount of time .

This HC version brings several new features. First, the player will have a choice between 3 paths: The Path of Tenacity, the Path of Precision and the Path of Intricacy. Instead of each path being focused around a single type of map (parkour, puzzle and maze), each path will instead AVOID a single gameplay type, allowing the player to avoid a type that they do not like. Second, this HC version is going to do away with the loopback between paths, meaning that you can switch between all 3...
Maintenance [Complete] Hardware maintenance on April 18th

On Saturday, April 18th at 6 AM EST (10 AM UTC), the server will go down for a period of extended maintenance. This is expected to last for approximately 6 hours.

During this time, I will be migrating the server to new hardware that will alleviate the storage issues we encountered last month. We will also see some other hardware improvements from this migration.

Hardware changes are as follows:
  • CPU – We are moving to one of the strongest processors for single-threaded operations currently available on the market. Single-threaded benchmarks suggest this is about 20% better than the existing processor.
    • Benchmarks for multi-threaded operations suggest this is over double our current processor’s strength. If MC continues to offload other operations off the main thread, we will be in a good position on that front as well.
  • Storage – Quadrupling. This will allow us to keep more backups, and take backups more often.

We are currently gearing up towards implementing a new version of Hardcore. We are tentatively scheduling the turnover for some time this weekend, though it may be later than that. I will update the thread and title once a time has been decided on.

This hardcore version aims to diversify and extend the Hardcore experience. It will feature 13 maps, and paths designed to make players confront all challenge types but still choose their own strengths. This version of HC will be more balanced between parkour, maze, puzzle and adventure maps.

You may take the Path of Athleticism, which has slightly easier mazes, but harder parkour. You may take the Path of Wandering, which has easier parkour, but slightly harder mazes. You may also take the Path of Tinkering, which features less parkour and maze, but more puzzle. All paths will confront you with all challenge types.

Maintenance [COMPLETE!] [Hardware] Upcoming Maintenance on August 4th

On Sunday, August 4th at 8 AM EST (Noon UTC), the server will go down for a period of extended maintenance. This is expected to last for approximately 4-5 hours. During this time, I will be migrating the server to new hardware that should mitigate some of the resource problems that were introduced in 1.14. The new hardware includes a stronger processor (both individual core and multi-core performance are stronger), and additional RAM. The server will continue be hosted out of a similar location to where it currently is. Tests on the new hardware showed improvements for world switching, server ticks "TPS", and overall higher responsiveness compared to existing hardware.
